Edwards Lock and Safe Company is one of the oldest and best known industry names in the Fresno Community.
In 2004, Edwards was acquired by Haven Young and is now part of Haven's For Total Security.
Haven was just 27 years of age when he opened a
one-man key kiosk in front of a K-Mart store on Chestnut
Avenue in Fresno.That was 1976. Today, Haven Young
is a successful businessman, with 30 years experience
and numerous business acquisitions and mergers
under
his belt. Now known as Haven’s For Total Security, the
company provides total security solutions for home and business –
from repairing locks and moving safes to installing sophisticated electronic access controls.
In
1982 Young had outgrown the one-man kiosk at K-Mart, so he bought Ceronsky’s Locksmith and opened a shop at Blackstone and Bullard
avenues in Fresno, giving him two locations. After several years, business growth moved him into a new building at Blackstone and
Barstow avenues where Young spent the next twelve years. During this time, Young found himself operating another business – a vocational
school. Young had trouble finding good employees; he was hiring six people at a time in hopes of keeping one on his team. When he
realized he was already in the training business, he decided he should be paid for it and he opened the on-site vocational school.
After five years, the requirements for running the school proved too onerous, so Young closed the school and focused all of his energies
into growing his business.
In 2000, Young expanded into the electronic security business,
installing hardware for commercial businesses. In 2004, Young purchased Edwards Lock and Safe Company in a transaction that more than
doubled his volume.
Today, Haven’s For Total Security operates from a one-acre site
at Blackstone and Belmont in Fresno. Haven's has the only major locksmith showroom in the valley, and he operates nine service vehicles
to bring complete locksmith service to your door with 24/7 emergency service. The company provides services throughout the Central
San Joaquin Valley.
